Montenegrin Paralympian Filip Radović qualified for the quarterfinals of the European Table Tennis Championship in Laško. Today, in the third round, he defeated the Irishman Anthony Davis with 3:1 (11:6, 12:14, 11:6, 11:8) and with the maximum performance as the first place in the D group, he qualified for the quarterfinals.
In the first two rounds, Radović defeated Macedonian Straško Kočevski 3:0 (11:4, 11:7, 11:3) and Czech Ivan Karabec 3:2 (11:8, 11:5, 5:11, 8:11 , 11:7).
The opponent in tomorrow's match for the medal will be drawn by Radović, after the round of 21,45 matches scheduled for today at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
Radović said that he was satisfied with the results and the game at the tournament.
"I am satisfied with my placement in the quarterfinals, as well as the skills I showed. In major tournaments, it is important to start with a win. The first opponent was also the easiest for me, and already in the second I beat Karabec, and that for the first time in my career. With the victory against Davis, I only confirmed the placement in the quarterfinals", said Radović.
He did not want to comment on the draw and possible rivals in the quarter-finals, stating that the favored Bulgarian Denislav Kodjabashev and Christian Gardoš from Austria failed to justify the role of favorites in the group.
"They wouldn't be a match for me in the quarterfinals, but if anyone were to be my rival, I would do everything to beat them and secure a medal," said Radović.
The quarterfinal matches are on the program tomorrow from 11,15:XNUMX a.m., while the afternoon program includes the semifinals and finals.
Radović, who is appearing at the European Championship for the fourth time, is competing in the S10 category, in which 23 table tennis players are registered.
In Laško, he is defending his bronze medal, the first in the history of the Montenegrin Paralympics, won in the Danish Vejle in 2015.
The championship in Laško brought together 295 competitors from 31 European countries.
