Montenegrin boxers Nenad Marković and Petar Liješević failed to advance to the semi-finals and secure bronze medals at the European Junior Championship in Albena, Bulgaria.
Marković was defeated by Russian Boris Karabijan in the quarter-final fight in the category up to 52 kilograms.
Yesterday, he is in the round of XNUMX against the German Hamad Rasul.
Liješević lost the category up to 66 kilograms to the Ukrainian Yuri Majadakov.
The Montenegrin fighter qualified for the quarterfinals by winning against Moldovan Marcelo Nistreanu.
Miloš Krasnić also lost the medal match yesterday in the category up to 70 kilograms.
"Marković matched his opponent in every segment and definitely confirmed his class for long distances. Liješević fought mercilessly in all three rounds, but the far more experienced and a year older Ukrainian won in the end. All three of our competitors achieved a win and a loss each, but the regret remains for not winning a medal, because they really showed with their work in the preparations as well as their heart and desire at the championship that they have the quality for that too," said coach Boško Drašković.
He emphasized that Montenegrin boxing has a future, but that investments are needed.
