The reprint editions of the books "Nikšić-Onogošt" by Petr Šobajić and "Zaloga" by Vladimir Mijušković published by the National Library "Njegoš" were promoted as part of the "September Days" in Nikšić.

Historian Mr. Sait Šabotić reminded that Šobajić's monograph is experiencing a second reprint 79 years after its appearance - it first appeared in 1938 in Belgrade, and in 1995 it was reissued thanks to Nikšić's centers for culture and information activities.

"Even today, this book is one of the essential works when it comes to the past of the Nikšić region, the Nikšić tribe, and the wider area, above all that which belonged to Old Montenegro", said Šabotić, noting that the question is how much the past of Nikšić would was poorer and less well-known if she didn't have the mentioned book. Although in the book the author did not solve all the questions that he treated, the opening of certain questions is, as Šabotić pointed out, "his step forward in the aspiration to observe and analyze the past of the Nikšić region more comprehensively".

The greatest success of a writer, he believes, is if he encourages those who are capable of thinking to think, and in Šobajić's monograph "there are many texts that have multiple effects on readers, and above all, those that provoke intellectually".

Although Šobajić, as Šabotić said, was tied to Serbia by work and life, Nikšić loved him very much and he imposed himself on him "with his dynamism and rich past, which seemed to be crying out for someone to present it to the reading public".

Šobajić was truly a lover of Nikšić's past and his efforts did not go unnoticed. Immediately, after the publication of this work, he joined the ranks of those interwar authors who managed to give their city a good monograph or ethnological-historical treatise, the value of which was confirmed by the passage of time for 79 years", concluded Šabotić.

Professor Mihailo Perošević reminded that "Zaloga" was published in 1958 in the "Pocket Book" edition from Sarajevo, and that the first reprint of the edition was published 21 years ago.

"'Pledge' belongs to the period of traditional realism. Mijušković's priority vocation is drama. And the drama in "Zaloga" is primary and far surpasses the romance. Mijušković dives into Montenegrin ethos and ethnos with 'The Pledge'," said Perošević and added that Mijušković especially uses the dramatic moment in the "painting" of the characters.

He reminded that there were several dramatizations of "The Pledge", that the last one was done by playwright Obrad Nenezić, that it was very successful and that last year there was a project to put it on stage, but that it did not happen, probably due to a lack of financial resources.

"'Zaloga' is a valuable work, a novel that can place the name of Vladimir Mijušković in the ranks of deserving cultural workers and writers in the history of Montenegrin literature," said Perošević.

Renata Bulajić, director of the "Njegoš" Library, said that the mentioned books deserve to be included in the cultural heritage not only of Nikšić, but also of the country.

"Through the novel 'Zaloga' and the monograph 'Nikšić-Onogošt', we want to help previous generations to remember, and future generations to learn, and both of them not to forget", said Bulajić.

According to her, they decided to donate a certain number of the mentioned books to the libraries of all elementary and secondary schools in Nikšić, as well as to the faculties that exist in the city under Trebjes.

Symposium in honor of Mijušković

"Isn't it our indolence, if we have a faculty with two chairs for language and literature, the newly founded Institute for Language and Literature in Cetinje, if we have university criticism, if our newspapers are full of critics, that there is a veil over the work of Vladimir Mijušković", he said. is Perosevic.

The only honorable exception, as he pointed out, is the "Vladimir Mijušković" Literary Society, which preserves the name of the distinguished professor. He expressed the hope that next year, when the Literary Association celebrates its 50th anniversary, or in 2019, when it will be 110 years since the birth of Mijušković, a symposium will be held in his honor.
