The eleventh edition of the Petrovac Jazz Festival officially started last night with the painting performance "The language of the body is the language of the soul" which was performed by ballerina and painter Dubravka Milivojević and her colleague ballerina Aleksandra Dejanović in front of the Red Commune memorial home.
The white screen and the music of Vasil Hadžimanov, which was heard from the speakers, hinted to passers-by that the organizers of the Petrovac Jazz Festival had prepared something very interesting, so the curious waited patiently for the start. Until then, they could enjoy watching Dubravka's works that clearly represent some of the dance moves. The thirty-minute performance is the product of a one-year, both painting and choreographic study of the movement, and the gathered followed with enthusiasm everything that happened in front of the Red Commune.
First, Dubravka, who was standing in front of two canvases, and Aleksandra, to whom only a shadow could be seen, evoked body language with dance movements, and then Milivojević used her material for work and painted the panels on the spot - one with bright colors, the other with darker colors .
Even the youngest spectators who took the first rows took part in the performance, so they tried to imitate the movements of these two artists as faithfully as possible.
The organizers of the festival prepared a surprise for the visitors, and straight from Nišvila, another group of female painters arrived in Petrovac, presenting themselves under the name "Paint my body and face", and they demonstrated live what their performance looks like.
The program of this year's festival is held in several locations, and the terrace of the Castello fortress is intended for the concert part. Šule Jovović and Sanja Raičković had the honor of opening the concert part of the Petrovac Jazz Festival, who warmed up the atmosphere with jazz standards, and each performance was accompanied by applause. After them, for the first time in Montenegro, the Austrian pianist David Hellbock presented himself to the audience with his trio, and his performance was followed by many foreigners.
The second day of the festival continues with a great program, and the organizers organized two events at noon - a piano concert was held at Camdus Cineplex, while the participants of the Master Workshop had another performance in Petrovac in front of the Commune.
Today's program will continue with a lecture by guitarist Tibor Maha Nađ on the topic "The Miraculous Power of the Blues".
"I'm glad that I'm here and that we're going to start a workshop, even though I know that people here don't usually come and ask questions." The workshops will be based on educating a younger audience, and the blues is the first step of modern music and everything we listen to today comes from it. That's why it's interesting and it would be good if even jazz musicians came," said Nađ, who has been playing the blues for over thirty years, at the press conference.
The concert part will be at the Castello fortress, and guests will be Macedonian musician Sašo Popovski and the Hungarian band "Djabe", who played at this festival a few years ago.
"We bring great impressions from Montenegro, and tonight we will present our new album, but there will also be old stuff," said the bassist of the band Djabe Barabas Tomas. He revealed that only guitarist Égerházi Attila remained from the old line-up, but that the sound of the band had not changed.
"We added keyboards, but the concept itself hasn't changed, the only thing is that now we're leaning more towards jazz and brass players are more represented," he explains.
Festival Director Vinko Mihajlović was satisfied with how the first days of the festival are going, and he announced that in case of rain, which is predicted for the last days of the weekend, the program in front of the Red Commune will be moved to their rooms on the first floor, while the concerts on the terrace of the Castello Fortress will be transferred to the club of the same name.
