World Boxing Day was marked by the training of over 3.000 boxers on Red Square in Moscow, but also in several other Russian cities. Training on Red Square was led by two-time Olympic winners, Oleg Saitov and Alexey Tishchenko.
The event was attended by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records, among whom, as independent observers, were the former world champions of professional boxing, Nikolai Valuev and Natalia Rogozina.
"The record has been recorded. Formal procedures are now ahead, including the counting of training participants. I think we will receive confirmation in a month," said Omer Kremlyev, Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation.
The previous record, also in Moscow, was recorded in 2015 when the training for 791 people was led by the boxing icon, the American Floyd Mayweather Jr.
