Applause for Heathcliff and Cathy under Rumia

The co-production of the Bar Chronicle and the Royal Theater Zetski dom, "Hurricane Heights", premiered on July 20 on the stage in Stari Bar, in the presence of a large number of dignitaries and guests. The performance, which was directed by the Croatian director Dora Ruždjak Podolski based on the motifs of the literary classic of the same name, evoked undivided positive reactions from the audience, who rewarded it with several minutes of applause.

According to the director, the staging of Emily Brontë's novel speaks quite openly about human flaws and shows people who, in terms of their needs and essence, always remain the same, only the social structure changes and the way society limits us. Dora Ruždjak Podolski highlighted the cooperation with the Montenegrin team and the space where the play was played.

"I tried to create a contemporary play based on a classic template, which really offers various options and possibilities. But what is most important to me in this project is the collaboration with Montenegrin artists, both actors and the entire author's team. For me, this was a challenge to I see how I will manage myself. As for the actors, I am extremely satisfied with the collaboration because it really shows a beautiful and solid school of acting. Also, I had the opportunity to work in an environment that is completely specific. I have not seen such on the globe , because you can really feel the spirit of antiquity. In my opinion, everything fit extremely well into the environment, because you see this Rumia who protects you, who is also dangerous, and this job of ours is exactly like that, in that change of light and darkness and everyday struggle." , said the director after the premiere.

It is believed that the characters and their complex characters are the basis of the popularity of this title. Among the first is Heathcliff, who is one of the most interesting characters in world literature. He was portrayed by Miloš Pejović in the play.

"It wasn't until the end of the process that I began to notice how difficult it really is to cope with that role. At the beginning, I had to be extremely patient in order to somehow get through to the end of the play, doing scene by scene. I worked quite segmented to make it easier for myself , so some of the things that Heathcliff does in the end opened the way for me to see how he does and suffers in the beginning. I tried to simplify the game as much as possible, to remove unnecessary details and thoughts to get to the core. Heathcliff is such that I I also said at the beginning that I didn't like the character in some parts of the play, while others said that they justified him. But, really, this is a character who, whatever he does, can be forgiven, because he has that touch of humanity and that great, uncontrolled love and passion which is always romantic for all of us and which always attracts us", explained Pejović.

Apart from him, the cast consists of Ana Vučković, Dejan Ivanić, Katarina Krek, Emir Ćatović, Jelena Simić, Branka Stanić, Simo Trebješanin and Ognjen Raičević. Set design was done by Jelena Tomašević, costume design by Lina Leković, while the music was composed by Slobodanka Dabović. The dramatization was signed by the playwright Stella Mišković, who talked to the journalists about the central themes of the dramatized text and her approach to the work.
