The veteran ensemble of the Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD) "Zahumlje" from Nikšić won first place at the 12th International Festival of Veteran Folklore, Performing Ensembles, Singing Groups and Soloists "Folklore Evening near Trebišnjica", which was held in Trebinje.
The ensemble performed under the artistic direction of Miodrag Ćetkovića, and the festival jury awarded the highest award - the golden statue of "Jovan Dučić" for the best veteran ensemble. In the veteran category, second place went to the "Svetozar Marković" Cultural and Artistic Ensemble from Novi Sad, while third place went to the "Abrašević" Center for the Cultivation of Traditional Culture from Valjevo.
"The festival brought together numerous ensembles and performers from Republika Srpska, Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija, Montenegro and Austria. This success represents yet another confirmation of the dedicated work, perseverance and love that the veterans of the 'Zahumlje' cultural and artistic ensemble cherish for tradition, folk dance and song," the press release states.
In the competition program, all three first places in the performing ensembles category went to Austria - first place was won by SKSN "Nikola Tesla" from Linz, second place by KUD "Knez Lazar" from Gmunden, and third place by SKUD "Zavičajno kolo" from Salzburg.
In the men's singing group competition, the winner was the GD "Gligor Milićević" from Bileća, second place went to the KUD "Dragačevski vez" from Lučani, and third place went to the singing group "Guča-Dragačevo", while in the women's singing group category, the first place went to the KUD "Dragačevski vez", second place went to the KUD "Ljubinje", and third place went to the KUD "Krušik" from Valjevo.
