"Savinski primer" promoted in Nikšić

As part of the Day of Slovenian Literacy and Culture in Nikšić, the "Savinski bukvar", a reprint edition prepared after more than three centuries by the Association "Ćirilica" from Trebinje, was promoted.

Vesna Vukićević said that the aforementioned primer was by nature and should have been presented on May 24, the Day of Slovenian Literacy and Culture.

"May 24 is the Day of Slavic Literacy and Culture, and it has been celebrated as a holiday since the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, first as a church holiday. In the XNUMXth century, it took on the character of a national holiday of education and culture in Bulgaria, and this tradition also spread to other Slavic countries The editors of the reprint edition, which was published last year, are Dr. Goran Komar, Prof. Dr. Jelica Stojanović and Vesna Andrić, president of the Trebinje Association "Ćirilica".

Andrićeva reminded that the first "Savinski primer" was created in Russia in 1692, that it was written by hieromonk Karion Istomin and that Petar II Petrović Njegoš also learned literacy from it, so many people call it "Njegoš's primer". As she said, Istomina painted the primer so that each letter has a picture that starts with it, and in addition to Slavic letters, he also included Greek and Latin letters.

"Comparative display of letters serves a better understanding of different languages," said Andrić and added that the primer published by the Association headed by the first phototype complete edition of the mentioned primer in these areas. She reminded that thanks to the monks of Trebinje and Savina, a copy of the book reached Herceg Novi, in the Savina monastery, through Trebinje at the beginning of the XNUMXth century.

The reprint edition made by the "Ćirilica" Association, founded in 2015 and numbering around 200 members, is missing several pages.

Dr. Jelica Stojanović said that three cities - Trebinje, Herceg Novi and Nikšić - are mentioned as the publishers of the phototype edition of "Sava's primer", which are connected to the aforementioned primer in various ways. She reminded that the work on the printing of the first primer was completed in 1694, when 106 copies were issued, and about twenty of them were preserved.

"It would be good if today's primers were similar in beauty and deep meaning to these old ones and leaned in the new time and spirit on the good old tradition," said Stojanović.

The promotion of the book was organized by the Spiritual Center "Venerable Isaiah of Onogošta" and the Montenegrin-Russian Cultural Center, the organizer of the Day of Slovenian Literacy and Culture.
