Inspectors from the Department for Suppression of Organized Crime and colleagues from the special investigation team seized a huge amount of cigarettes, without excise stamps, which they found in three warehouses in Karabuško polje near Tuza.
The police found a large amount of cigarettes after shortly after 16:XNUMX p.m., with the order of the special prosecutor and the investigating judge, they began searching the premises of the company, which has been selling ceramics and sanitary ware for decades.
One of the founders of the company that owns the warehouse - Pjetar Đokaj gave a statement to the police late at night, where he claimed that the warehouses were the property of the company he founded a long time ago, but that they were allegedly leased to another company...
As "Vijesti" has learned, it is about cigarettes worth hundreds of thousands of euros - brands "Virginia" and "JPS".
According to "Vijesti", the inspectors had information that there were loads of cigarettes in the warehouses, but they were surprised when they opened the doors and saw how many packages were in three large hangars.
There was no electricity in the warehouses, so the police had to bring searchlights in the afternoon to illuminate them.
The police asked for help from the company "Zetatrans", whose trucks are used to take away packs of cigarettes from the warehouse, and the work will not be completed throughout the night.
By midnight, two truckloads of cigarettes were taken from the warehouse, and not even a part of one warehouse was emptied.
For decades, Montenegro has been one of the key hubs in the international chain of cigarette smuggling.
