The exhibition of installations by the artist Teodora Nikčević entitled "Champion" will be opened tonight, at 19:XNUMX p.m. in the Contemporary Art Center of Montenegro, in the "Klub" gallery.
The installation is made up of double-sided cutout photos, life-size figures, and objects intended for sports activities.
Teodora Nikčević was born in 1986 in Nikšić. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje in 2009. She exhibited independently in Podgorica in 2011, as well as at group exhibitions in Montenegro and abroad (Italy, San Marino, Serbia, Iceland, Great Britain, Russia). She participated in several artistic projects and residencies in Montenegro, Italy, Austria and France.
In the catalog of the exhibition, art historian Ljiljana Karadžić wrote, among other things: "Teodora Nikčević continuously deals with the phenomena of perception, illusion, fragility of identity, personal memories and death in her works. Using different art forms and their fine combinations, the author subtly structures ambient settings that question the perception of the observer and destabilize the sense of self as an immutable fact. Although made of seemingly concrete elements, such as photographs that should guarantee documentaryness and elements that belong to the subject reality, her works are actually freed from narrative and point to something that is not immediately visible and tangible, to something that enters the zone of arbitrary meanings".
The exhibition can be viewed in the "Klub" gallery in the next month.
