The concert of cellist Dmitri Prokofiev and pianist Ratimir Martinović started the fourth concert season in a row, organized by the "Vida Matjan" Music School and the KotorArt Don Brankovi dani music festival.
Prokofiev and Martinović performed an interesting and demanding program woven from compositions by Schumann, Schubert, Šnitke and Ščedrin in front of a full audience.
The director of the school, Laura Jovanović, reminded of the importance of this kind of practical training for school students, as well as the fact that most visiting artists and professors from local and regional art faculties hold free workshops for school students.
The President of the Municipality of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, said that one of the ideas of this season is to "in the days when the coastal cities sink into a mild melancholy, the depression of rainy days, to wake up the sleeping city and to dispel the heaviness of the south with music."
As the organizers announced, the Kotor concert season will last until June, during which the focus will be on the cello, as a deficient instrument in Montenegro in terms of young musicians.
"The Kotor and Montenegrin audience will have the opportunity to listen to the best students at festive school concerts from Christmas to Christmas, for Camellia Days, before the school day, artists from the local scene such as pianist Bojan Martinović and violinist Vujadin Krivokapić, regional musicians, such as cellists Sandra Belić and Irina Joseph and the opera ensemble of the Academy of Arts in Osijek, as well as internationally renowned musicians such as the Polish Kraków duo Kalinowski-Selezer (cello-piano), who will perform already on Tuesday, December 11, in the hall of St. Duha in Kotor," reads the announcement of the organizers.
