Savo and Aleksandar Bušković, Borko Vukčević, Nikola Šofranac, Ivan Popadić, Miloš Đonović, Miroslav Bogojević and Drago Šuškavčević from Podgorica will be forcibly brought to court on March 2, due to accusations that they lied about playing football with Ivan Bušković on the night when, five years ago, "Vijesti" journalist Olivera Lakić was attacked.
This was decided by the judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica, Rade Ćetković, after none of the eight defendants appeared at the scheduled trial yesterday.
The judge said that everyone, except for Savo Bušković, Šofranc and Vukčević, was duly served with court summons, and that they did not justify their absence.
For Šofranc and Savo Bušković, he stated that they do not live at the addresses that are available to the court, and that Vukčević was tried to serve the summons twice, but that no one was in the apartment.
Neither did their defense attorney, lawyer Mirko Bogićević, appear yesterday, but according to the judge, he justified his absence.
Eight friends of Ivan Bušković are on trial for the criminal offense of giving a false statement, for which a sentence of three months to five years in prison is threatened.
They testified in the case against Nikola Bušković, Dragoslav Perazić, Ivan Siništaj, Borko Čađenović, Branko Bašović and Simo Đurović, who, apart from Nikola Bušković who received a suspended sentence, were sentenced to three months in prison each for giving a false alibi to Ivan Bušković.
Although Ivan Bušković was legally sentenced to nine months in prison for the attack on Lakićeva, his sentence was reduced by a quarter by the Amnesty Law, and he received a prison term, according to which his imprisonment was reduced by an additional 10 days.
The "Vijesti" journalist was attacked in front of her entrance on March 7, 2012. The motive for the attack was never established. Since February 2011, Lakić was the target of harassment and threats, and later of physical attack.
