Last year, the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office paid 582.062 euros for various expert reports, the costs of numerous analyses, the services of court interpreters and the costs of witnesses.
The largest part of the budget money went to the accounts of experts in the medical profession, followed by traffic and economics.
According to the budget plan for the next year of eight million euros, which are provided for the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, almost ten percent will be consumed by the costs of the expert examination.
"Around 760 euros will be spent on expenses for expert services in various areas, services of court interpreters, as well as expenses arising from the investigation procedure, such as blood tests, DNA, expenses for witnesses and other expenses related to criminal proceedings," it is written in the planned budget of the Prosecutor's Office for this year.
The costs for various expert reports and analyses, which are paid from the VDT budget, have been increasing since 2011, when the Criminal Procedure Code began to be fully applied - the prosecutor's investigation.
"According to the report, which was submitted to the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office from the Secretariat of the Prosecutorial Council, from the end of August 2011, the new powers prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code began to be fully applied in all state prosecutor's offices in Montenegro - the state prosecutor's investigation procedure and the increased participation of state prosecutors in criminal proceedings," explained the VDT.
In 2011, only 35.255 euros were paid from the coffers of the Prosecutor's Office for expert examinations, but as the years progressed, that figure increased tenfold.
According to the data of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, which were provided to "Vijesta", in 2012, experts were paid 331.280 euros.
In 2013, 331.519 euros were spent on that part, while in 2014, 401.974 euros were paid to experts.
"During 2015, 519.243 euros were paid to experts, and during the last year - until December 1st, 582.062 euros were paid", it is written in the answers from VDT.
They explained that the most money goes to the accounts of medical experts, and then to traffic experts.
Huge sums of money are also paid to economic experts, because in the past few years numerous large cases have been opened where financial expertise was requested.
One of the biggest financial items on the budget of the Prosecutor's Office has been increasing for years, also because in numerous cases, the parties to the proceedings often request expert reports and analyses.
