One of the priorities in the work of the Nikšić Security Center will be the breaking up of criminal groups and the prosecution of their members.

This was announced by the head of that center, Milorad Žižić, in an interview with "Vijesti".

He explained that in the previous period, four criminal groups operated in Nikšić, and now there are two, according to police data.

"In relation to the organized criminal groups that currently exist, measures of increased criminal control are implemented, while criminal charges have been filed against the members of these groups to the competent prosecutor's offices on several occasions. "A part of the members of the groups are serving prison sentences for previously committed crimes," said Žižić.

Of the 602 registered criminal acts in 2016 in Nikšić, Plužine and Šavnik, 275 were by an unknown perpetrator, and 211, or 77 percent, were solved.

Although last year the number of crimes against life and limb increased by 64 percent compared to the previous year, the percentage of information regarding the unknown perpetrator is 93 percent.

According to Žižić, out of 72 criminal acts (in 2015 there were 44), 27 were committed by an unknown perpetrator, and 25 were solved.

"Two criminal offenses with the lowest degree of social danger - light bodily harm - remained unsolved. Ten murders and attempted murders were registered last year, while four such crimes were registered in 2015," said Žižić.

Two murders took place in the town under Trebjes last year, both in October - Peko Đikanović and Dragan Kontić are suspected of killing Dragoljub Mijušković, while Predrag Kršikapa is charged with the murder of his wife Biljana Kršikapa.

In the last four years, the number of robberies and thefts by an unknown perpetrator has been decreasing, and as one of the reasons Žižić points out the fact that the largest number of perpetrators are serving prison sentences for property crimes.

Thus, in 2013, 41 robberies and thefts by an unknown perpetrator were registered, a year later the number of these crimes was 20 fewer. Then in 2015 there were nine, and last year eight, of which six were illuminated...

Last year, 133 weapons were seized, of which 84 were firearms and 63 were illegally possessed.

Žižić said that some of the weapons were seized from persons of security interest and members of organized criminal groups.

Of the 19 criminal acts committed by arson and explosive devices, nine were solved.

"This represents a good work result considering the fact that these are criminal acts which by their nature and specificity are difficult to prove, due to the lack of material evidence that remains at the scene after the commission of the criminal act," said Žižić.

He also said that three criminal charges were filed against the same number of people for vandalism, as well as that 11 people were prosecuted for faking traffic accidents and nine for street drug sales.

"The security situation in Nikšić has changed for the better in recent years, which is supported by the fact that Nikšić is no longer recognizable by the events that fill the newspaper columns of the so-called black chronicle," Žižić pointed out.

Žižić calls on citizens to report police officers who work illegally

During 2016, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against four police officers of CB Nikšić in order to determine disciplinary responsibility for a serious breach of duty, while no report was filed against police officers of this Center for committed criminal offenses with elements of corruption.

"We appeal to all citizens that if they have knowledge of crimes committed by police officers, they should report it immediately, and what they can do anonymously. Also, the report can be submitted to the competent prosecutor's office or the Department for Internal Control of Police Work," said Žižić.
