There are 11 books in close competition for NIN's novel of the year, including the works of two previous winners, as well as one debut.
Svetislav Basara, who won the NIN award for "The Rise and Fall of Parkinson's Disease" in 2006, is now in competition with the novel "Andrić's Ladder of Horrors", and Vladan Matijević, winner of the award in 2003, is now in close competition with the book " Meeting under unusual circumstances".
The members of the jury, Jasmina Vrbavac, Tamara Krstić, Zoran Paunović, Mihajlo Pantić and Božo Koprivica, also included a debut "Smile under the mountain olive" by Luka Tripković in the shortlist, NIN announced. Svetlana Slapšak, member of the jury in 1990 and 1991, is now appearing before another jury with "Balance". Muharem Bazdulj with "Marzipan Doll" and Darko Tuševljaković with "Jaza" are competing for the award for the first time. Also competing are "Arzamas" by Ivana Dimić, "Chronicles of Suspicion" by Vladislav Bajac, "Tavern" by Žarko Radaković, "Going to Jolki Palki or a false alarm in the Alley of the Meritorious" by Mirjana Đurđević and "PA KAO" by Vladimir Tabašević.
