The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica filed an indictment for perjury against eight new witnesses, who lied that they played football with Ivan Bušković on the night when, four years ago, "Vijesti" journalist Olivera Lakić was attacked.
Savo Bušković, Aleksandar Bušković, Borko Vukčević, Nikola Šofranac, Ivan Popadić, Miloš Đonović, Miroslav Bogojević and Drago Šuškavčević will be on the dock, before judge Rado Ćetković, in the Basic Court in Podgorica.
The trial begins on January 30.
They were witnesses in the case against Nikola Bušković, Dragoslav Perazić, Ivan Siništaj, Borko Čađenović, Branko Bašović and Simo Đurović, who were sentenced by the final judgment for giving a false alibi to Ivan Bušković.
Relatives and friends of Ivan Bušković also claimed at the trial that they well remember that on March 7, 2012, they played football in Zabjelo from nine to ten, but they could not remember any other details from that night.
Suškavčević even claimed that the man convicted of assaulting a journalist had paid for the match, which was played at the time she was attacked, after the soccer match.
Only Aleksandar Bušković mentioned at the trial that it happened several times that they changed the time of the game and that he thinks that they played from eight to nine o'clock that night.
The "Vijesti" journalist was attacked in front of her entrance around XNUMX:XNUMX in the evening.
The Higher Court in Podgorica confirmed the earlier verdict of the Basic Court, by which the brother of the convicted Bušković was the only one to receive a suspended sentence, while the others were each sentenced to three months in prison for giving a false statement.
Nikola Bušković will go to prison for three months, if he commits a new criminal offense in the next two years.
"The first-instance court valued the content of the testimony given by the defendants here when they were heard as witnesses in the case against the defendant Ivan Bušković and the factual determination confirming that the statements of those witnesses were false. Namely, precisely from the sentence of the final decision of the Basic Court in Podgorica , from July 20.07.2012, XNUMX, it follows that it was established that Bušković Ivan was not on the said football field, as the defendants here claimed," the explanation of the verdict reads.
Podgorica Basic Court Judge Nada Rabrenović delivered the first-instance verdict in the proceedings against Bušković's brother and five of his friends, when she stated that the final court verdict established that Ivan Bušković was on Bulevar Svetog Petar Cetinjski at the time of the attack on Lakićeva, and not on Manastirska Street. where the defendants claimed that he played football with them.
The criminal offense of giving a false statement is punishable by three months to five years in prison.
Although Judge Željka Jovović sentenced Ivan Bušković to nine months in prison for the attack on Lakić, his sentence was reduced by a quarter under the Amnesty Law, and he was also given a prison term, according to which his prison term was reduced by an additional 10 days.
The motive for the attack was never established.
Since February 2011, Lakić has been the target of harassment and threats, and later of physical attack.
