E-footballer from Serbia Marko Roksić Roksa with reason, he is considered one of the favorites at the eSports World Championship, which will officially begin tomorrow. In Podgorica, at the European Championship, the tournament ended without defeat, so he hopes that he will have the same pace in the coming days in Bali.
He sees the players from the Old Continent as his biggest competitors, and he does not hide that he hopes for the title because it is the only recognition he lacks in his e-football career.
Marko, you are considered one of the favorites. Given that you are the current champion of Europe in e-Football, is there any pressure?
Honestly, there is no pressure, but I would like to repeat the success I achieved at the European Championship, which was held at the beginning of September in Montenegro. This is the only title I'm missing - the e-Football World Champion title.
After the European Championship, you had a tournament in Primošten. How good are EP and Primošten preparation for the World Cup?
I came to that tournament in Primošten unplanned. I first agreed with the tournament organizer Luka Kulusic to come, however, I had a match and wanted to cancel my participation in Primošten. However, in the end that game was postponed, I had a lufta, so it came in handy. Although, I was also preparing after that tournament.
Thanks to the victory at the European Championship, you skip the group stage and are directly in the quarterfinals. How do you feel about the competition?
There are quite a few national teams in e-Football, as many as 108. Honestly, I haven't even heard of half of them. But I think that our European players, I mean Spain, Turkey, along with Brazil, are the main favorites to win this competition. Although, I am sure that one of the Europeans will win the title this year when it comes to e-Football.
Considering that e-Football is a relatively new game because PES was played until recently, there were numerous updates since Konami started it, how much is it possible to make tactics?
Before the competition in Montenegro, I managed to find some tactics of my own with three players at the back, three and four up in attack, actually 3-4-3. After that formation I started winning, so I won't change it. I stick to my formation and stick to it.
If we look back at your game at EP, you usually let your opponent win at least one match, so the results were usually 2:1 or 3:1 in your favor, it all depends on the way you play. Does one lost game know that sometimes it affects the psyche and creates a burden?
I didn't let the opponents go, I was losing, so I reversed the results. So that's enough when you don't play for one win. One mistake in e-Football can sometimes cost a player dearly. And here you have a chance to correct yourself. Everyone, when we play on BO3, there is no chance to get lost there. There are two games and sometimes you lose a match there. It doesn't matter to me if I lose the first game or the second game when I have to win two in order to move on.
How do you like Bali, did you have time to enjoy it, and considering that there are over 600 competitors, how much did the organizers think about the fact that you have to practice before the competition?
This destination is the peak of peaks. It's my first time here, and after the experience we've had, it certainly won't be the last. As for the organization itself, the complex is great and I think we will have a training room at our disposal as early as today. Everything else is top notch.
