The Network of Academic and School E-Sport Federations (NASEF) and the Electronic Sports Federation of Montenegro (SESCG) have officially joined forces to establish "NASEF Europe".
The initiative was officially announced during the organization's annual general meeting at the World eSports Championship (IESF) held recently in Riyadh. NASEF Europe aims to advance educational opportunities, build community and foster personal development through the integration of eSports into school environments.
The new organization is based on the rich international experience that NASEF has been building for years around the world, adapting their successful model to specific cultural and educational contexts across Europe. Thus, NASEF Europe will support the educational goals of all IESF members in the European region, providing the tools and resources needed to implement e-sports programs in schools.
"Signing the contract with this organization is great for all of us, because we are starting a new chapter and improving this branch of industry by establishing NASEF Europe," he said. Filip Šoć, president of the Electronic Sports Association of Montenegro.
"I believe that together we will achieve a lot in the field of gamification, education and development of the e-sports community. I am honored that the root of this idea was planted in Montenegro and that it will soon spread throughout Europe. We have an exciting chapter ahead of us", stresses Šoć.
Executive Director of NASEF Gerald Solomon he emphasized the importance of e-sports as a platform for learning and development.
“This sport not only fosters friendship and competition, but also serves as a learning tool in areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), digital literacy and soft skills such as leadership, communication and teamwork. We are honored to bring our many years of experience to school e-sports to support the work of NASEF Europe", Solomon points out.
The key goals of NASEF Europe in the coming period will be: promoting school e-sports as a dynamic platform for academic success and personal development, then providing professional development and resources for educators to successfully integrate e-sports programs into their curricula, fostering an inclusive and fair environment , enabling the participation of communities from different social and cultural backgrounds, as well as alignment with international standards and cooperation with other NASEF organizations around the world.
Member of the board of the European e-Sports Federation and director of the NGO For Future, which has already conducted NASF training in Montenegro Mia Kraljević-Ćalasan, referred to the importance of this cooperation.
"Less than a year after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between SESCG and NASEF, and the organization of the European Gaming Summit this summer in Bar, we are now establishing NASEF Europe. This is a true honor and proof that shared belief knows no boundaries. We will strive to make NASEF Europe synonymous with school e-sports, spreading the power of combined learning and play across Europe," she emphasized.
NASEF's mission is to provide opportunities through eSports for all students to acquire STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) skills, as well as key communication, collaborative and problem-solving skills necessary for success in work and life. NASEF operates under the auspices of the World School eSports Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, USA. The International e-Sports Federation entrusted NASEF with training and support for more than 130 members worldwide in the implementation of school e-sports programs.
The Union of Electronic Sports of Montenegro was founded with the aim of developing, promoting and regulating gaming and e-sports in Montenegro. The association has been organizing national and international tournaments and leagues for years, implementing the standards prescribed by the International e-Sports Federation (IESF). SESCG is a partner of many prestigious international organizations such as the European e-Sports Federation, GEF, Adria e-Sports Federation and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee. The Federation is also working on the formation of the Mediterranean e-Sports Federation and the Federation of Small Countries.
"NASEF Europe is a significant step forward in the development of school e-sports in Europe. Its goal is to create an inclusive platform through education and e-sports communities that will help young people develop key skills for the future. "Montenegro, as the host of this project, is positioning itself as a leader in promoting esports and educational innovations throughout the region," concludes Šoć.
