Assassin's Creed Shadows game has been delayed again to give Ubisoft more time to "further polish" the action adventure.
This title was announced back in May 2024 with a planned release in November of the same year. However, after Star Wars Outlaws sold less than expected, and blamed everything on a problematic launch, the developers decided to postpone Shadows to February 2025.
In a statement to investors, the studio stated that they had learned their lesson, and that they had to provide additional time to further polish the game.
At the beginning of January, Ubisoft announced a new delay, and fans of this title can only expect it on March 20.
“Since November, we've been thrilled to share our progress through gameplay demos, and each week has brought us valuable feedback from our community. Although we have already made significant steps, we believe that we need a few more weeks to implement this feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and interesting experience on the first day", emphasize Ubisoft, emphasizing that this game will decide the fate of the entire company.
"So take all the time you need - it's better to make a good first impression," one fan wrote in response to the news, while some felt another delay was "the end of Ubisoft."
Assassin's Creed Shadows is set in Japan during the 16th century, and players take control of guerrilla warfare expert Naoe and samurai Jasuke, a character inspired by the historical figure of the same name.
"Switch between these two unlikely allies as you discover their shared destiny and usher in a new era for Japan," reads the game's official description.
Last year, Ubisoft came under fire for a "cowardly apology" after the introduction of "Japan's first black samurai" sparked controversy over historical accuracy, despite leading experts claiming there was no doubt about Yasuke's status as a samurai.
It is also reported that the studio plans to release 10 Assassin's Creed games in the next five years. Games like Invictus, inspired by Fall Guys, the mobile game Jade and the remake of Black Flag could appear this year, while the horror-inspired Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe has also been announced.
