Marvel's next big game, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, has been delayed until 2026 to give developers more time to add "more polish." The title was first announced in 2021 and is being helmed by Uncharted series creator Amy Hennig. It's an action-adventure game set during World War II that follows Captain America as he teams up with an early Black Panther, Azur Lane, to stop the evil organization Hydra.

The game was originally scheduled to be released at the end of this year, but the developers have now confirmed that Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra will not be released until 2026.

"We have some exciting news: Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra will now launch in early 2026. This extra time will allow us to further polish the game and ensure you get the best possible experience - one that fulfills our vision. We have a lot of exciting things planned and look forward to sharing them soon," the short statement reads.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year, Henig stated that her desire was for visual fidelity to be at a high level.

"Forget about watching a game. I want it to feel, look, sound, and even smell like you're watching a great Marvel movie or series, but the player controls the action," she said at the time.

Although the game was announced four years ago, only a short narrative trailer has been shown so far.

In the same interview, Hennig added that the World War II setting allowed the team to do a lot of interesting things, including telling a story about a young Steve Rogers, who is still trying to find his place, as opposed to the seasoned hero from the movies. It also allowed them to introduce a new Black Panther from 1943. She then revealed that “Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra” is full of intrigue, surprises, fascinating characters and interesting locations.”
