Montenegrin phygital basketball team G-Unit recorded its first victory tonight at the prestigious Games of the Future competition, which is being held in Abu Dhabi. The Montenegrin representatives faced off against the Quetzales team from Mexico, in a match that had an unexpected outcome.
The duel, in accordance with the rules of phygital basketball, began on a virtual court. Unlike the previous day, G-Unit showed significantly more confidence, better coordination and tactical maturity in the digital segment. However, the Mexican team was more successful in this part of the game, so the digital part of the match ended with a score of 19:13 in favor of Quetzal.
The Montenegrin team, however, entered the field with great optimism and a clear intention to turn the score around, feeling ready and motivated to make up for the deficit. However, the turnaround did not happen, as the Mexican team was forced to forfeit the match due to an injury to one of its players, giving G-Unit the victory.
For the Montenegrin team, this is an extremely important triumph, both in terms of results and from a psychological perspective, as it represents a strong incentive to continue the competition.
G-Unit plays its next match at Games of the Future tomorrow at 17 p.m. against a team from Ghana.
