Lionsgate has confirmed the creation of new video games, and while the first will be based on the horror franchise "Saw," the second will bring the character into the virtual world of games. Kijanu Rivsa - John Wick from the films of the same name.
Lionsgate CEO Adam fogelson announced work on games that will be based on the plots of the aforementioned films.
"There will be a few more that we will announce soon," he hinted, while it is speculated that they are also in negotiations with the rights holders related to the films "Twilight", "The Hunger Games", "American Psycho" and "Blair Witch".
"We recognize a huge increase in interest, but also opportunities when it comes to video games, and we will keep an eye on that. So I think you will see big financial breakthroughs this year," Fogelson pointed out.
"If a way could be found to transfer to video games the energy that John Wick has with guns in the movies, that would be incredible," comments on portals dedicated to video games.
Video game creators are no strangers to film-based work, and “Saw” already had a video game called “Survival horror Saw: The Video Game,” available since 2009. Its plot was set between the first and second parts, and players controlled former police detective David as he tried to escape from an abandoned psychiatric institution full of traps in the form of puzzling tasks. This game was followed by a sequel in 2010, “Saw 2; Flesh And Blood,” but it was not particularly well received.
The "prequel" John Wick video game was released in 2019, and Lionsgate soon showed interest in creating similar games, but nothing has been officially confirmed so far.
Meanwhile, a fifth sequel to "John Wick" is in the works, with Keanu Reeves returning to the main and title role.
