Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly preparing the return of the Infamous series through a new game, although it is not yet known whether it will arrive for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 6, or both generations of consoles.
However, the new project is reportedly not being developed by Sucker Punch Productions, which has worked on all previous games in the series on PS3 and PS4. It is assumed that the studio is currently busy working on the Ghost of Tsushima series, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The Infamous series began in 2009 on the PS3 and quickly gained popularity thanks to its open-world and superhero-style gameplay. A sequel was released in 2011, and Infamous Second Son was released for the PS4 in 2014, serving as a standalone story and the final main installment in the series.
In addition to the main games, two spin-offs have been released: Festival of Blood (2011) and First Light (2014), which is also the latest title in the franchise.
Although the series has been on hiatus for years, it is still considered one of the most sought-after PlayStation franchises to return, but it is assumed that a possible new project could be a remake or remaster, rather than a completely new game.
