According to video game industry analyst Ben Thompson, “Grand Theft Auto 6” could be the last major video game we get before artificial intelligence tools take over their development.
“Grand Theft Auto 6” has been in development for over 13 years, and when it is released on November 19th, it will become the most expensive video game ever made.
Pre-orders began last month. The standard edition will cost $79,99, while the ultimate version will cost $99,99. However, according to business analyst Ben Thompson, the price is too low.
“Rockstar is charging too little for this game. It should be around $200. Grand Theft Auto 6 is the last big game. It was mostly made before the era of artificial intelligence. It's the pinnacle of AAA development. Years and years of blood, sweat and tears. So much so that analysts on Twitter are even counting cigarette butts outside Rockstar's offices to see how many people are currently working overtime,” Thompson pointed out.
He added that he would even buy the game out of respect for the effort put into its development.
"I would buy it, even though I don't know if I'll ever play it. I would gladly pay $200 because $80 is a ridiculously low price," he believes.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Straus Zelnik previously claimed that Rockstar Games did not use artificial intelligence in the creation of the long-awaited sequel "Grand Theft Auto 5."
The game's release has been met with some controversy. Some independent video game stores have decided to boycott the release because, they say, the game does not have a traditional physical release. Instead of a disc, Rockstar will be selling a box with a download code.
