New "Game of Thrones" video game delayed until 2027

The video game "Game of Thrones: War for Westeros" has been delayed until 2027, in order to, according to the developers, reach the "high level of quality" they want to achieve.

Announced last year, "Game of Thrones: War for Westeros" is a real-time strategy game that will allow players to completely change the course of the story from the popular TV series "Game of Thrones."

"Conquer the Seven Kingdoms alone or engage in ruthless multiplayer battles. Lead great noble houses, gather legendary heroes, and change the fate of the kingdom. Do you have the strength to conquer the Iron Throne?" reads the game's description on the Steam platform.

Players will be able to lead House Stark, Lannister, or Targaryen, but also, in the role of the Night King, gather an army of the dead.

The first trailer features a number of familiar characters from the series, including Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

However, unlike the television series, the game will not follow the original plot. The developers have emphasized that players will have complete freedom to decide how the story ends.

The trailer, for example, shows the Night King killing Jon Snow, while Daenerys Targaryen dies at the hands of an enemy soldier.

The game was originally scheduled to be released this year, but after its launch, PlaySide studio has not released any new information.

Over the weekend, it was confirmed that the game's release had been officially postponed.

"Since the announcement of 'Game of Thrones: War for Westeros,' development on the project has been progressing very well," the studio said in a new blog post.

In addition to revealing new details about maps, combat, and heroes, they confirmed that the game will be released in early 2027, without giving a specific reason for the delay.

"We remain fully committed to our goal of creating a real-time strategy game set in the world of Westeros that will meet the expectations of both strategy enthusiasts and Game of Thrones fans," they said.

"This decision gives us additional time to achieve that goal and ensure the game reaches the level of quality we strive for. We know the wait is long and we greatly appreciate the support you are giving us," the statement added.
