After a long search for the main actor, the producers of the film, in which the Indian Vinetu is the center of attention, decided to hire an Albanian who lives in Germany to interpret him, writes the portal 24sata.hr.
Although they initially thought of giving the lead role to a real Indian for filming purposes, Vinetou will be portrayed by an Albanian whose name has not yet been revealed.
Until now, the film was filmed in Rijeka in the Governor's Palace and the ruins of the Benčić factory, which "plays" the notorious Juma prison, and the set recently moved to the surroundings of Fužina, where scenes from the towns and villages of the Wild West will be filmed, so saloons and classic places for tying horses from that period, while an Indian village was created overnight in Nova Vindolska.
Three films about the Apache chief will be shot from Učka to Trogir, Croatian media reports, and hundreds of extras were hired for the occasion, whose part-time job required them to look exotic and know how to ride horses well. According to the portal, the producers were also looking for people who are ready to strip naked for the purposes of filming.
"Croatia has spaces that can evoke America. We are looking forward to returning to the place where the first series was filmed," said the Rat Pack production company.
In the first series, the Croatian actress Dunja Reiter, who is now seventy-five years old, starred in the films about Vinetto, which opened the door to Western production.
Dunja starred in two films about the legendary Apache chief, in the one from 1963 and 1964, and then she revived the character of a belligerent barmaid from one of the city saloons.
Soon she began to receive many offers, including an offer to pose for the American edition of Playboy magazine, which at the time was looking for exotic women from Eastern Europe.
This engagement enabled her to pursue a career as a singer and actress in Germany, so she does not regret not returning to Croatia.
"Recording opened all those doors for me and I don't regret leaving. I am especially glad that I was there during the war, because I was involved in providing aid, which I would not have been able to do if I had stayed at home," said Reiter.
In 2003, she played Muter Tik, a famous madam whose girlfriends all cowboys wanted, in "Old Surehand", and in 2012 she portrayed Marie Laveau, a voodoo priestess in "Winnetou II".
Reiter married a German producer in Zadar in 2009 after a 25-year relationship.
