The popular series "Hannibal" starring Mads Mikkelson and Hugh Dancy will end this summer, NBC announced.
The reason for the cancellation of the psychiatrist-serial series was a drop in viewership.
"Hannibal" is based on the character from several novels by Thomas Harris, including "When the Lambs Fall Silence," which was made into a movie in 1991 with Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins.
The producers of the series announced that there are still 10 episodes of the series that will be shown this summer.
Fans of "Hannibal" may hope that their favorite series lives on elsewhere, as was the case with NBC's "Community," which was canceled and then moved to Yahoo.
