An old cartoon by Walt Disney, which was believed to be lost, was found in the north of Norway, the Norwegian National Library announced, and the media in Oslo reported today.
The first Disney Christmas cartoon "Empty Socks" (Empty Socks) from 1927 was found in the inventory of a library in the north of Norway near the polar zone.
"At first we didn't know it was a lost film treasure. The cartoon was two rolls and had no title," said library archivist Kjetil Kvale Sorensen.
The 5,30-minute cartoon was identified by Disney cartoonist and vintage cartoon expert David Gerstein.
The Norwegian library said it digitized the cartoon and sent a copy to the Walt Disney Company.
Norwegian media reports that it is not yet known how the cartoon ended up near the North Pole.
