The famous film director Ridley Scott, after the success of the series "Pillars of the Earth" (pictured), announced that he will focus more on international television projects.

The man who gained fame thanks to cult productions such as "The Eighth Passenger", "Blade Runner" and "Gladiator", has now turned to work for the small screen, thanks to the BBC's eight-part series, which is broadcast in Montenegro on the Vijesti Television channel on Saturdays in the evening.

The bestseller "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett, on which the series was filmed, was published in 1989. The action, set in England in the XNUMXth century, follows the lives of several characters from various classes and the construction of a cathedral in the fictitious city of Kingsbridge.

It is an epic story about the struggle between good and evil, betrayal and intrigue, violence and beauty, the background of wars, religious discord and the struggle for power.

While working on this project, Scott said, “Ken Follett's storytelling has the richness and beauty we dreamed of when we were looking for a compelling story for television. "Pillars of the Earth" has everything we hoped for". That he is really enthusiastic about Follet's work is proven by the fact that he will soon start adapting another of his novels.

"I think we've found a great model. Now we're working on his book World Without End," revealed Scott.

The diligent director is also working on the adaptation of Moira Young's novel Blood Red Road for the French TV channel TF1, and he should not neglect film projects either - he is preparing to film the sequel to "The Eighth Passenger".
