NORAD has followed the annual journey of Santa Claus since 1955. He joined Google in 2007. You can follow Santa's journey around the world thanks to Google Earth and Google Maps. Modern technology allows children to get involved and track his whereabouts from minute to minute.
At Noradsanta.org. you can see a map, with a bit of red and yellow marking all the places Santa has already visited. Here, information and photos from each place he visited are revealed, such as Irkutsk in Russia. On Friday at lunch time he was in Hanoi - Vietnam. According to the NORAD website, NORAD is a "trusted source" for tracking Santa's travels.
The number of cookies consumed is also available on the site, for those who are curious to find out how many sugary sweets he has eaten this year. It doesn't end there either - Santa fulfills wishes through phone calls. A free telephone line has been opened. Santa Claus delivers a beautiful, personal invitation to your e-mail address, which you can print and show to the children.
Never ending surprises
When your loved ones call the toll-free number, they will be answered by him personally. They will invite your youngest to submit their wish list. You can call as often as you want and even add to your list.
Children who called Norad on Christmas Eve to find out where Santa Claus was, were surprised when a real person answered their phone call. They weren't expecting a real person.
There was a special surprise on Friday. The person who answered the phone was the first lady of the USA, Michelle Obama. She answered calls for about 40 minutes.
Although the program is aimed at children, volunteers say that parents are often heard saying: "Did I tell you that?". Finally, make a wish list, get in touch and go to bed on time because Santa comes when you fall asleep.
