Film studio Warner Bros. has announced that the fourth film in the "Matrix" series will be shot.
It has also been confirmed that the stars of the first three films, Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss, will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity.
It was also announced that the film will be directed by Lana Wachovski, who was the co-director and co-writer of the first three films in the series.
"We are thrilled to be re-entering 'The Matrix' with Lana," said Warner Bros Group President Tobi Emmerich.
He added that "Lana is a true visionary - unique and original.
The production of the film "Matrix 4" should begin in 2020.
The plot of the new "Matrix" is currently unknown.
It is not known what will happen to the character of Morpheus, who was played by Laurence Fishburne.
Apparently, the role in the new film could be given to a younger actor.
The "Matrix" trilogy, directed by Lana and Lily Wachowski, earned 1,6 billion dollars in worldwide cinemas, and the first film of the "The Matrix" series celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
