The head chef at the reception after this year's Oscars in Los Angeles, Wolfgang Puck, said that he will serve dishes that will be 70 percent vegetarian, but there will also be smoked salmon and caviar.
Puk, who will take care of the menu after the Oscar ceremony for the 26th year in a row, said that in addition to vegetarian dishes, there will also be Japanese beef, as well as pizza in the shape of an Oscar statuette and traditionally smoked salmon and caviar.
"We prepare various dishes, because in addition to the fact that many people like vegetarian dishes, most of them prefer fish and meat," Puk told the French press.
The chef (70), who learned his trade in prestigious French restaurants such as Maxim, said that he is not a vegetarian himself, but he likes to prepare such dishes, because it is a challenge for a chef to make a vegetarian dish as tasty as a dish with meat.
At the reception, there will be 18 vegetarian dishes for about 150 guests. Among them will be vegetable couscous, zucchini in Chinese sauce with black rice and mint and coriander sauce with boiled small potatoes. Among the meat dishes, there will be, among other things, miniature Japanese beef burgers and chicken stuffed with black mushrooms.
A group of 25 confectioners is in charge of the dessert, which will make cakes without eggs and milk, but will use almond and blackcurrant milk. The queen of treats will be chocolate Oscar statuettes. About 5.000 chocolate statuettes will be made, and confectioners will use about 400 kilograms of chocolate.
The guests, that is, the Oscar nominees who will not win the award, will receive gifts worth $215.000 per person before the reception, reported local media in the US.
