The producers behind the franchise about the most famous fictitious secret agent James Bond have officially confirmed that Idris Elba one of the choices for the next actor, who will bring the character behind the code 007 to the big screen.
Last year, the long-standing franchise also celebrated its anniversary, considering that "No Time to Die" is the 25th James Bond film, and it is also the last film in which he played the main and title role. Daniel Craig.
At the very beginning of filming, before this actor officially said goodbye to the famous role, speculations began in the media about his replacement, but Barbara Broccoli i Michael G. Wilson they emphasized that they wanted to give the film "No Time to Die" a chance to win over the audience, and only then start looking for the new James Bond.
Consultations on this topic allegedly began in November of last year, and they were mentioned in public as the new agents of 007. Tom Hardy i Henry Cavill, but Elba was not among them. His name had been circulating in the media for a few years before, and then the possibility was dropped.
In an interview with Deadline, the producers of the James Bond film have now admitted that Elba is also "in the game", while Broccoli confirmed that he was part of the conversation on the subject, but that the biggest problem is getting over Craig's departure.
"We know Idris, we are friends with him, he is a fantastic actor. And, you know, he's been part of the show before, but it's always been difficult to talk about the new James Bond when there's someone still sitting in his chair. So we decided not to think about it again until 'No Time to Die' hits theaters and Craig gets his time to say goodbye to the audience, and we to him too," she explained.
On the other hand, there were mixed reactions. In October 2021, Elba pointed out in an interview that he will not be the next James Bond, and then revealed in another that he is very interested in the role.
There was also information that later turned out to be completely incorrect, such as the fact that he received an offer, but not for the title character, but for someone else of his own choice, and that he could also become the main villain.
Now, however, one comes to the conclusion that at that time the production was not even looking for a new actor, but rather it was the wishes of the audience, so Elba could not even receive an official invitation.
Fans of the actor who were hoping that Elba would become the next James Bond, will be happy to know that the producers are very aware of his interest in the role.
With roles in the series "The Wire" and "Luther", as well as in the film "The Suicide Squad", he proved that he could handle the weight of agent 007.
In the meantime, there was also information among the audience that this could be the complete end of the franchise, because (the details of the plot of the film "No Time to Die" follow) in the last film, James Bond was actually killed for the first time.
However, apart from the producers who did not even mention that they were thinking about the end of this story, the fact is that only the secret agent with the character of Daniel Craig was killed, but also that the name itself (No Time to Die) suggests a return.
Plus, the franchise brought in $14,2 billion in worldwide production before the release of No Time to Die, so it's clear that they won't give up on something that still has an audience and makes money.
"No Time to Die" adds 774 million dollars to the total earnings, so it is clear that giving up the "golden cock" would be tantamount to suicide.
A few days ago, GQ magazine revealed that there is supposedly a shortlist of actors for the new James Bond, and that in addition to the names already mentioned, the list includes Robert Pattinson, Michael Fassbender i Jamie Dornan.
