The longtime casting director of the "James Bond" franchise, Debbie McWilliams, rejected the offer of the American actor Dwayne Johnson to appear as the next interpreter of the character of agent 007.
The American actor, known for his pronounced muscularity, said in October that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather Peter Maivia, who fought with Sean Connery in the 1967 film "You Only Live Twice", the fifth in the James Bond series.
McWilliams, who has worked on the Bond films since 1981, told the Radio Times that Daniel Craig's successor must have the ability to blend in.
"He has to look like a regular guy, he can't be Dwayne Johnson," McWilliams said.
According to her, the interpreter of the character of Bond must have an excellent physique, but he should not stand out in any situation and probably be at least in his thirties because younger people do not have the experience and mental abilities to perform the role.
The new, 26th film in the series about the British spy Bond, is expected in 2025 at the earliest, the Times reported.
Actor Daniel Craig, who portrayed the character of a secret agent five times, gave up further filming in 2021.
