The creators of the popular animated series "South Park" Trey Parker and Matt Stone will join forces with rapper Kendrick Lamar and director Dave Free to work on a new feature comedy whose premiere is scheduled for July 4 next year.
The film will be released under the auspices of Paramount Pictures, and it will have fierce competition, as "Jurassic World 4" and "Superman" will be released in the same period. Parker and Stone's new venture was announced at Paramount's CinemaCon presentation, where trailers for the upcoming films Smile, Sonic the Hedgehog and Gladiator were also shown.
"This is one of the funniest and most original scripts I've ever read, and there will be fireworks for sure," said Paramount CEO Brian Robbins.
Written by Vernon Chatman, the comedy depicts the collision of past and present when a black man playing a slave in a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend's ancestors once owned his ancestors. Lamar, Free, Stone and Parker will be producing on this project.
In addition to this film, Paramount also announced that they will restart the "Scary Movie" franchise, known for caricaturing popular horror titles.
