George Lanthimos has added Alicia Silverstone to the star-studded cast of his upcoming sci-fi film "Bugonia," starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
Best known for her role as Cher in "Wacky Blonde," Silverstone also played a striking role in Lanthimos' 2017 psychological thriller "The Killing of a Sacred Deer."
The Oscar-winner's latest film follows two young men obsessed with conspiracy theories, who kidnap a powerful director of a large company, convinced that she is an alien whose intention is to destroy planet Earth. The screenplay was written by Emmy Award winner Will Tracy (known for the series "The Heirs" and the movie "Me") and is based on the 2003 South Korean comedy "Save the Green Planet". Details about Alicia Silverston's role are still under wraps.
The actress recently starred in the Netflix drama Reptile, which debuted at number one on the platform, as well as the dark comedy Madhouse, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
