Catherine Zeta-Jones will star in a new series being developed for Prime Video, a revenge thriller with the working title "Kill Jackie"
The series is based on the novel "The Price You Pay" by Nick Harkaway, who published the book under the pseudonym Aidan Truhan, and filming begins in March.
The Oscar winner will play the character Jackie Price, "who has been living in wealth and luxury for 20 years - traveling the world, selling art using sophisticated tax loopholes and, above all, trying to remain anonymous after leaving behind a past life as an international cocaine dealer," the plot description states.
"However, just as her life is starting to get a little boring, it suddenly takes a deadly turn when she discovers that the Seven Demons, a team of the world's most fearsome hitmen, have been hired to kill her. Assuming someone from her past is behind it, Jackie unleashes her old instincts and embarks on a wild, dangerous plan: to eliminate the Demons one by one before they kill her. However, she soon realizes that her inner demons are far more terrifying than the ruthless killers who haunt her... and that her buried secrets end up leading her much closer to home, with surprising consequences."
"I am thrilled to be a part of this series both behind and in front of the camera. I look forward to the opportunity to bring this complex character to life and explore a female-driven story that encompasses themes of empowerment, identity, and redemption," said the actress, who is also the series' executive producer.
"Killing Jackie" will be filmed in Bilbao, Lisbon, London and Swansea.
The TV adaptation was created by co-writer Conor Keane, who also serves as an associate producer. Damon Thomas ("Killing Eve") will serve as executive director, while Tom Butterworth ("Gangs of London") will serve as writer and showrunner.
