Jacques Audiard's musical "Emilie Perez" won seven awards, including best film and director, at the 50th Cesar Awards in Paris.
The film "Emilija Perez" also won awards for best adapted screenplay, sound, original music, special effects and cinematography.
The Spanish-language musical about a Mexican drug trafficker's gender transition had 12 nominations.
In the category of Best Actor, the award went to Karim Leklu (Le Roman de Jim), and the award for Best Actress went to Hafsija Hersi (Borgo).
At the ceremony at the famous Olympia Hall in Paris, this year's honorary Cesars were awarded to American actress Julia Roberts and French-Greek director Costa Gavras.
In addition to Catherine Deneuve, who is the president of the ceremony, the awards were also presented by actress Emmanuel Bear and director Justine Trier, last year's winner of the Cesar Award for the film "Anatomy of a Fall".
The ceremony was held at the famous Olympia Hall in Paris. Catherine Deneuve opened the ceremony and dedicated it to Ukraine.
César is a French national film award, established in 1975 and considered the French Oscar. The nominations are determined by the French Academy of Film Arts, and the competition for the award includes films shown during the previous year.
The award was named after the sculptor Cesar Baldacini (1921-1998).
