Apple TV+ has officially renewed the series "Ted Lasso" for a fourth season, and lead actor Jason Sudeikis will reprise the title role of the charming, optimistic football coach with a distinctive mustache, reports Variety.
The rest of the cast has not yet been officially confirmed, although media outlets previously reported that Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift had extended their contracts.
"As we all continue to live in a world where many factors teach us to 'look before we leap,' in season four the AFC Richmond crew learns to leap before they look, discovering that where they land is exactly where they need to be," said Sudeikis, who will also serve as an executive producer.
He is also one of the creators of the series, which is based on the format and characters originally created by NBC Sports.
"'Ted Lasso' was a true sensation, inspiring a passionate fan base around the world and bringing immense joy and laughter, all while promoting kindness, compassion and unwavering faith. Everyone at Apple is thrilled to continue our partnership with Jason and the brilliant creative team behind this series," said Matt Chernis, head of programming for Apple TV+.
In addition to the aforementioned cast members, the series also starred Juno Temple, Phil Dunster, Nick Mohamed, Tohib Jimo, Cristo Fernandez, Cola Bocchini, Billy Harris, and James Lance.
The long-standing debate over whether the beloved series would return for a new season has finally been put to rest. Season three of "Ted Lass" largely wrapped up the main storylines, depicting AFC Richmond's rise to the Premier League and Ted's return home to Kansas to be with his son.
However, fans tirelessly demanded more episodes, and the cast and creators of the series gave different answers to the question of its continuation for years.
The series premiered in 2020, while the third season aired in 2023. "Ted Lasso" quickly gained popularity, likely thanks to the main character and his mission to spread happiness and kindness at a time when the world was deeply affected by the Covid pandemic.
While it aired, the series was nominated for 61 Emmy Awards, winning 13 of them, including two consecutive wins in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, as well as individual awards for Sudeikis and Goldstein.
