Actor Michael Si Hol confirmed to fans that he is returning to the role of Dexter that made him famous, for the second season of the series “Dexter: Resurrection.” According to him, “a team of writers is currently being assembled” to work on the new episodes.

The series "Dexter: Resurrection" is a sequel to the original series "Dexter", as well as "Dexter: New Blood", as well as the ten episodes that aired during the summer as part of the first season on the Paramount Plus channel.

In the last episodes, the audience could see Dexter, a forensic scientist who becomes a vengeful serial killer in search of justice, recovering from the events of the series “Dexter: New Blood”, in which he found himself after being shot by his son Harrison (Jack Alkot).

With a video announcement posted on social media, Si Hall shared the good news with his fans.

"First of all, I want to thank all my fans who embraced and took the 'Dexter: Resurrection' ride with me this summer. I hope you enjoyed it," the actor said.

"We've also been given the green light to shoot the next season. More information is yet to come. The writing team is currently assembling and we'll have details soon, but I want to be the first to share with you that the story continues," Si Hall pointed out.

In an interview with NME magazine a few months ago, the actor revealed that he himself thought he had left the character of Dexter far behind him after the end of the series "Dexter: New Blood".

"I thought that was it. Still, there was something left in the air... we talked about it casually, because if nothing else, he wasn't shot in the head, and even though he was left lying on that floor, there was still some possibility that he would come back. But I really didn't think he would actually be resurrected," joked C. Hall.

"I was increasingly drawn to the idea that the end of 'Dexter: New Blood' could represent some threshold that my character could cross that could perhaps bring him back to something that he's probably been longing for since the middle of the season itself - a return to a more unencumbered relationship with his code (which ensures that he only kills those who deserve it) and who he really is. And maybe there was some burden that he'd been carrying for a while that he could let go of," the actor described.

The original “Dexter” series had eight seasons, which aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013, while “Dexter: New Blood” was a sequel that aired in 2021 with ten episodes.

A prequel, “Dexter: Original Sin,” was also made, set in 1991 and depicting the background and early life of Dexter Morgan. The series aired in 2024, but was not picked up for a second season.
