Some of Hollywood's most beloved characters – including Spider-Man, Buzz Lightyear, Cliff Booth and Miranda Priestly – will return to the big screen in 2026. Whether fans like it or not.
Whether due to a lack of original ideas or a change in the way films are made, which leads filmmakers to play it safe and offer audiences something they will not be able to avoid for nostalgic or sentimental reasons - remakes, reboots, prequels and sequels will dominate the big screen and streaming services this year, writes Ultimate Classic Rock.
And these are the most annoying:
The premieres of "Greenland 2: Migration" (January 9th) and "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" (January 16th) are already behind us.
"Return to Silent Hill" is also planned for January (January 23rd), while February will see the premieres of "The Strangers - Chapter 3" (February 6th) and "Scream 7" (February 27th), reports N1.
"The Bride!" (6. mart)
Just three months after Guillermo del Toro released his epic version of the Frankenstein legend, writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal is bringing a new version of the 1935 film - "The Bride of Frankenstein".
Jessie Buckley plays a bride who is created to be a companion to Christian Bale's monster, and the story is set in politically and socially unstable Chicago in the 1930s.
"Ready or Not 2: Here I Come" (27. mart)

That will be the only March release announced so far, while something for the little ones - "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" - will hit theaters on April 13. Four days later, horror again - "Lee Cronin's The Mummy" - and according to reports from early screenings, it's better to leave the kids at home for this one.

"Mortal Kombat II" (May 8)
The 2021 video game reboot Mortal Kombat was a solid film, but it didn't set theaters on fire or win over critics; however, it apparently did well enough on home release to justify a sequel.
As summer approaches, blockbusters dominate.
So on May 22nd, after three TV seasons, the Mandalorian and "Baby Yoda" will hit the big screen in the film "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu", and "Masters of the Universe" (starring Nikolaj Golitsyn - instead of Dolph Lundgren) on June 5th.
Now that the "Scream" franchise has returned after a ten-year hiatus with three new films in the last five years, it only makes sense that the parody franchise it inspired would also make a big comeback.
It's been 13 years since "Scary Movie 5," and Anna Faris, Marlon and Sean Bean, Regina Hall and other characters from the series are returning for the sixth installment. It's in theaters June 12.

The horror film "Evil Dead Burn" arrives on July 24th, and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is planned for the very end of the month.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (31. jul)
Five years after "Spider-Man: No Way Home" served as a surprisingly bittersweet conclusion to the Avengers saga, Tom Holland returns as the Spider-Man everyone had magically forgotten, having sacrificed all his friendships to save the world in the previous film.
After the comedy "Super Troopers 3" (August 7), another horror film - "Insidious: The Bleeding World" will try to gather the cinema audience.
"Coyote vs. Acme" (August 28)
Three years after its originally planned theatrical release in July 2023 was canceled by Warner Bros., "Coyote vs. Acme" is finally hitting theaters.
This hybrid live-action/animated film stars Will Forte and John Cena as rival lawyers, as Wile E. Coyote sues the ACME Company because their products failed to help him catch a racing bird.
Lily James, on the other hand, will replace Sylvester Stallone in the "Cliffhanger" reboot on August 28th, while the DC movie franchise will expand with another film - this time about Batman's adversary Clayface - on September 11th.

Another reboot will attempt to revive the "Street Fighter" franchise, 32 years after Jean-Claude Van Damme starred in the original film adaptation of the popular video game. The date is October 16th.
The film adaptation of Dr. Seuss' book "The Cat in the Hat" is scheduled for November 6th.
"The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" (20. novembar)
The Hunger Games franchise, which has grossed more than $3,3 billion across the first five films, is getting a second prequel. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" will focus on the past of young Haymitch Abernethy, played by Woody Harrelson in the original four films.
Another sequel to the comedy "Meet the Parents," starring Robert de Niro and Ben Stiller, will be released at the end of the year, on November 25th, under the title "Focker In-Law."
"Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" (26. novembar)
After grossing more than $1,5 billion across three films, the "Chronicles of Narnia" franchise hit a snooze in 2010. Writer-director Greta Gerwig returns to the very beginning of the original seven-book story with her version of "The Magician's Nephew."
The second part of the black comedy "Violent Night" will arrive before the holidays, on December 4th.
The new "Jumanji" movie still doesn't have a title, but it has a premiere date - December 11th.
"Avengers: Doomsday" (18. decembar)
The media is reporting that 35 different superheroes from the Marvel franchise will appear in this film. Robert Downey Jr. is among them, but with a major twist.
Instead of reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man, he will portray the villain Doctor Doom.
"Dune: Part Three" (December 18)
In the biggest clash of big names since "Barbenheimer," "The Avengers" will share a premiere date with the third installment of the "Dune" franchise, from legendary sci-fi director Denis Villeneuve.
And it has a strong star cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin.
"The Angry Birds Movie 3" hopes to attract audiences just before Christmas - December 23rd.
A premiere date is unknown for "The Adventures of Cliff Booth."
Quentin Tarantino is clearly enjoying delving deeper into the backstory of the character played by Brad Pitt in the 2019 film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" - first through a radically different and expanded literary version of the story, and now by writing an entire film dedicated to Cliff Booth.
Tarantino decided not to direct the film, but entrusted the script to his friend David Fincher, who had previously collaborated with Pitt on the films "Se7en" (1995), "Fight Club" (1999) and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008).
