The release of the documentary "Melania" dedicated to the current First Lady of the United States brought benefits to her predecessor, Michelle Obama, who also made a documentary about herself in 2020 called "Becoming", world media reports.
Namely, after the release of the film about Melania Trump began on January 30th, "Becoming", which is available for viewing on the streaming platform Netflix, recorded a large increase in viewing, according to data from Luminate, a company in charge of analytics.
According to them, since February 1st, there has been an increase in viewership of as much as 13 thousand percent.
As they explain, this means that more than 47,5 million minutes of the film were watched over the course of a single weekend, compared to the 354 minutes that users watched “Becoming” the weekend before.
However, it is emphasized that this does not mean that the film "Melania" produced by Amazon did poorly at the box office, considering that it earned 7 million dollars from the screening over the weekend, which is more than expected. However, in recent days, there has been speculation about information that huge amounts of tickets are being purchased in an organized manner and then distributed to Trump supporters for free, in order to "inflate" the numbers that are supposed to show the popularity of the documentary. Amazon allocated 75 million for the documentary, of which 40 million dollars were directly invested in the filming of the film, and 35 million dollars were invested in its promotion.
The film was directed by Brett Ratner and is his first work after accusations of sexual harassment by several women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge.
American media has conducted numerous analyses regarding this film, and among other things, it was concluded that 75 percent of the audience is white, and 70 percent is female. Also, 72 percent of the audience is over 55 years old.
The highest ticket sales were recorded in theaters in Dallas, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, Houston and Atlanta.
