British actor Daniel Radcliffe has shown that he has no qualms about the role that made him famous around the world. More than 25 years after he first donned the boy wizard's mantle, Radcliffe has publicly supported his successor and said he believes the new Harry Potter will be better than him.

Radcliffe revealed that he wrote a letter to Dominic McLaughlin, who will play Potter in the new HBO series based on the novels by J.K. Rowling. The adaptation is planned for eight seasons and is expected to premiere in 2027.

McLaughlin was chosen from more than 30.000 applicants, and will star alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron.

"I'm sure Dominic will be better than me. I learned along the way. I actually learned how to act for a long time while filming Potter. Today, I look back on my early performances with more understanding and less discomfort than before," Radcliffe said in an interview with "Screen Rant."

The actor also pointed out that he would like the new generation to have the opportunity to build their own story, without constant comparisons with him and other actors.

"If people really want to protect these children, then let's not burden them with questions about us. I wouldn't like us to be some ghostly shadow in their lives. Let this be their business," he said.
