Actor Eric Dane, best known for his roles in the series "Grey's Anatomy" and "Euphoria," has died at the age of 53, People reports.
News of the actor's death came ten months after it was discovered that he was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
"It is with heavy hearts that we share with you that Eric Dane passed away on Thursday afternoon after a courageous battle with illness. He spent his final days surrounded by friends, with his wife and his two wonderful daughters Billie and George, who were the center of his world," the family said in a statement.
Audiences around the world know him best for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan, who was only supposed to be on the series for a short time, but after viewers fell in love with him, he stayed on for several seasons in "Grey's Anatomy."
In addition to that and the series "Euphoria", he played in "Burlesque", "Valentine's Day", "Marley & Me" and "The Last Ship".
