The upcoming film inspired by the band Green Day has been given a new title - "Nimrods", modeled after their 1997 album "Nimrod".
The film, previously titled "New Year's Rev," follows the adventures of three high school friends who embark on a road trip after mistakenly believing their band has been booked to support Green Day on New Year's Eve. The story is partly inspired by the band's real-life experiences on tour, particularly around the release of their iconic album "Dookie."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's new title further emphasizes the project's connection to the band's history.
The film stars Mason Thames, known for "How to Train Your Dragon," as well as Grace McKenna, Jenna Fisher, and Fred Armisen.
The members of Green Day are producing and will appear in the film. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last September, but an official release date has yet to be announced.
