Former "Euphoria" star Barbi Ferreira recently spoke about the reasons she decided to leave the popular HBO drama, admitting that continuing to star "wasn't worth it" due to the diminishing space her character had.
Ferreira played Kat Hernandez in the first two seasons, but left the show before the start of season three. She previously stressed that the decision to leave was "completely mutual," denying rumors that she left the set mid-production.
In a new interview, she explained that she wanted to focus on more diverse and challenging roles, and to dedicate herself to developing her acting career.
In the meantime, she has been hired to work on the independent films “Faces Of Death” and “Mile End Kicks”.
"If 'Euphoria' had given me what I needed, I would have stayed for as long as it lasted. However, I didn't have the opportunity to show my full acting range. On the contrary, my space in the series decreased over time," said Ferreira.
The young actress also emphasized that creative fulfillment is more important to her than working on large and popular projects.
"I don't care if something is the greatest series of all time, if it doesn't fulfill me creatively. It's important to me to play different characters, learn and develop as an actress," she added.
Ferreira emphasized that it was independent filmmakers who provided her with opportunities that major productions did not, especially at a time when her character in the series lost its significance.
Also, musician Labrinth confirmed that he will not participate in the third season, saying that he does not allow others to treat him badly.
The third season of the series “Euphoria” brings back the main stars, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sidney Sweeney and Hunter Shaffer, and the plot is shifted forward several years.
The new season premiere was also marked by a tribute to deceased cast members - Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, and producer Kevin Turenne.
Claude, who played one of the main roles in the first two seasons, died in 2023 at the age of 25, the cause of death being an accidental overdose. Producer Turen also died that same year, and an autopsy showed that the cause was a heart attack.
Dane, who played the character of Cal, passed away earlier this year at the age of 53, less than a year after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Meanwhile, Zendaya hinted that the third season could be the last, noting that the story is nearing its conclusion.
