Margot Robbie has confirmed that the Ocean's 11 sequel will take place at Formula 1's crown jewel, the Monaco Grand Prix. The film will not focus on Danny Ocean, the con man who led the Las Vegas casino heist in Ocean's Eleven, but on his resourceful parents.
"Before Danny Ocean set foot in Las Vegas, two geniuses taught him everything he knows - his parents," Robbie announced during a presentation of Warner Bros.'s plans for 2027 at the CinemaCon event.
"You'll see them at their best, pulling off a major heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix in our new film," she added.
Robbie and Bradley Cooper star in the film, presumably as the mother and father of Danny Ocean, the charming heist leader played by George Clooney in director Steven Soderbergh's 2001 film.
Separate from this prequel, Clooney is reviving the original “Ocean's” franchise with a new sequel, which will once again star Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt... They will return to criminal exploits as a group of aging thieves.
This as-yet-untitled “Ocean’s” film is set to begin filming this year, with a theatrical release planned for 2027.
