Ryan Reynolds has said it's unlikely that another "Deadpool" standalone film will be made in the future.
The chatty antihero is reportedly set to appear in the upcoming Marvel film "Avengers: Doomsday," and Reynolds will star alongside Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, and Letitia Wright.
In a new interview with Sunday Today about the future of Deadpool , Reynolds hinted that the character will mostly appear as a "supporting character" going forward, and that a fourth solo film is now unlikely.
"I have some stuff written, but I don't think I'll ever put him in the center of a story again," Reynolds said, adding that Deadpool's era as a main character on the big screen may be over.
"He's a supporting character. He's a guy who's great in the group," the actor believes.
His latest statements follow on from an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which he said he was increasingly considering not making another standalone film.
"Putting Deadpool at the center works best when everything is taken away from him and he's pushed against the wall. I can't do that again. A fourth time would feel repetitive and redundant. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be fun. There's still a story for Deadpool that can be fulfilling and powerful," Reynolds believes.
He also said at the time that he would like the character to cross over with the Avengers or X-Men, but without formally joining the teams.
Reynolds first played Deadpool, or Wade Wilson, in the 2016 film of the same name, then in 2018's Deadpool 2, and in 2024's blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine.
