The movie "Avengers: Doomsday" has been filmed, but it is still not entirely known which characters and actors will appear in the final version, as Marvel continues to keep much of the information secret.
Actor Alan Cumming, who is reprising his role as Nightcrawler from the X-Men series, revealed that the script wasn't entirely clear on this point either. He explained that the real names of some characters were replaced with code names to hide who was actually appearing in the film.
He states that the script was very complex to read due to the large number of characters and action scenes, so the actors often did not have a complete picture of how their role fit into the larger story. This approach, according to him, was used intentionally to prevent information leaks.
Cumming added that some actors have been invited for additional filming, although principal photography ended in September 2025, meaning the film is still being refined in post-production.
Although he does not appear often in the film, he stressed that returning to the role was a positive experience for him and that the working atmosphere was much more pleasant than in previous projects.
All of this further fuels speculation about how the final cast will be shaped and what role the X-Men characters will play in the wider Marvel Universe, including the sequel "Avengers: Secret Wars."
