Even with the announced remake of the cult film “Bloodsport,” which made Jean-Claude Van Damme a global star nearly four decades ago, the actor is clearly not done with action movie roles.
The legendary martial arts and action master now leads the new war spectacle “Raid Pacific,” directed by Stephen Luke. The film is being produced by Dean Bloxom and Deano Productions, and the project is being presented at the Cannes Film Market in collaboration with VMI Worldwide, which is handling global sales.
Based on true events, the film is set in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Van Damme plays Captain William Pierce, an American-French submarine commander who is entrusted with the risky mission of transporting a small unit of Marines into enemy waters to destroy a key Japanese base that could change the course of the war.
The film is produced by Blosom, Luke and Andre Relis of VMI Worldwide.
Relis pointed out that the film is about resilience, sacrifice and leadership under extreme pressure, emphasizing that Van Damme brings special strength and emotional depth to the role of Captain Pierce.
Director Stephen Luke added that he is drawn to stories based on historical events, but with strong human stories in focus, while Bloxom emphasized that Van Damme brings an intensity that further elevates the project.
Which actors will participate in the project alongside Van Damme, as well as production details, will be announced in the coming months.
